Opie Otterstad (born 1970) is an American painter recognized for his expressive, energetic depictions of sports moments that capture both the drama of competition and the emotion of victory. Blending realism with impressionistic texture, his paintings celebrate the athletes, teams, and traditions that define the sporting experience. Otterstad has created commissioned works for Major League Baseball, the NCAA, and numerous professional sports organizations, earning national acclaim for his ability to bring iconic athletic moments to life. In 2006, he was honored by the United States Sports University and its American Sport Art Museum & Archives (ASAMA) as the Sport Artist of the Year – Painter, acknowledging his exceptional contribution to preserving the spirit of sport through art.
